There are a number of Dementia related training, workshops and information sessions offered within East Belfast to increase awareness and understand of what it is like to live with dementia. Further information on these training courses can be found below

Interactive Dementia Training -

Delivered Via Zoom

Participants will virtually visit different settings including: a home; a shop; a café and a bank, learning practical ways to make life more dementia friendly .

This training session has specially made films and includes interaction between participants. Each specially made film ends with 3 top tips to take away.

This training is suitable for anyone affected by dementia, and also members of the public who want to make their communities more dementia friendly, such anyone who works in a shop, or provides a service used by someone with dementia, anyone who is a volunteer with a local group - this training is ideal. Participants receive follow-up resources after the training by email.

Carers Information Support Programme

Alzheimer’s Society provide a free 4 week Carer Support Programme designed for those who provide unpaid care and support to someone living with dementia.

Topics are: Understanding of Dementia, Providing support and care, Legal and Financial matters and coping with day to day. These are provided throughout the Belfast and South Eastern Trust areas.
