Dementia Action Week - 17th to 23rd May


Dementia Action Week happens this year from 17th- 23rd May.

People with dementia have been worst hit by the pandemic, accounting for a quarter of all coronavirus deaths in the UK.

Action needs to be taken to improve the lives of people affected by dementia. Join the conversation during Dementia Action Week by getting involved in these exciting Zoom events organised by Alzheimer’s Society.


Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

What is Denim for Dementia?

It’s time to swap the joggers for jeans on Friday 21st May and donate to Alzheimer’s Society.

Whether it is by holding a fundraiser virtually or asking your work colleagues to wear their finest denim and make a small donation, you can get involved.

Join us on Tuesday 18th May at 3pm to watch a beautiful piece of theatre. The Songbirds, is a an honest but uplifting look at the experiences of people living with a dementia diagnosis, and the effect of that diagnosis on the individual and their families. The piece is 55 minutes long, and features two actors

Interactive Dementia Training - 19th May 7pm

Join our unique training designed and delivered by Dementia Friendly East Belfast campaign.

This training is an opportunity to learn about the practical aspects of dementia including how to make your home dementia friendly, how retail staff should ensure their environment is dementia friendly and gain top tips to take away. Open to all members of the public. Booking is essential and tickets can be found in our dementia training section of the website
